The House Behind SophiAI Has Opened Its Front Door

The revised second edition of SophiAI: The Story of C.H.I.L.D. has reached that very satisfying stage where the book is no longer just files, proofs and storefront metadata. The first physical author copies are here.

At almost exactly the same time, something else around the book became rather more tangible: Limn Publishing House opened its front door.

The House behind the book

Limn Limited is the New Zealand publisher behind the revised edition. Over the past few weeks we have been turning the publishing operation into a visible place: a deliberately synthetic House with an Entrance Hall, Author’s Study, Projection Theatre, Press Room, Cabinet and public House Notes.

And now, when you arrive, Edmund Vale—Ed—meets you in the foyer.

I write the stories. Limn publishes them. Ed helps run the machinery around them.

That distinction matters. SophiAI remains human-authored. The AI machinery is around the publishing work: research, organisation, challenge, operations and experimentation. Rather than hide that collaboration, Limn makes it part of the architecture.

Two milestones, one week

The revised edition is now available in Kindle, paperback and hardcover, and the first author copies are in hand. Meanwhile the House has moved from concept to something readers can actually enter.

There is also a companion note from the publishing side: The House Has a Front Door.

It is still early, and the House will keep changing. But for the first time the revised book and the publishing world around it are both properly out in public.
